Join Betsy Morris and Raines Cohen, Cohousing Coaches and community organizers with Cohousing California, with area community seekers and residents of an East Bay Cohousing (EBCOHO) neighborhood, to together prepare a community meal to mark the end of National Cohousing Open House Day.
In cohousing neighborhoods, every home has its own kitchen. But in the shared Common House, members gather up to several times a week to dine together -- but because this is a special time for the whole community to be with each other, there's not room for a large group of guests.
At this special (un)Common Meal, we will take over a cohousing Common House kitchen on an "off" night and prepare our own Common Meal together; some members of the community may join us to eat it. The shopping will already be done, but we'll get to cook and clean and learn together, discovering the joys and challenges of feeding a group of diverse humans with unique needs, and cleaning up afterwards.
Schedule for the evening: 5 PM Cooks arrive and start prepping dinner 6 PM Cleaners arrive and get to visit a home or two. 6:30 PM Break to eat and share stories of the day

We'll take turns, with one group cooking while another watches and discusses Summit videos, take time to eat together, and then the cooks get to watch and discuss Summit videos while the first group cleans up.
Advance registration required, so we can shop and prepare. We always use local organic ingredients to the extent available, and offer alternatives to accommodate a wide variety of dietary needs.
Important note: the listed placeholder location is NOT the property address, we send the actual address only when you register, to protect the privacy of community residents.
Note: this is NOT a tour, and our upstairs neighbor has a kid with an early bedtime, so let's take steps to finish clean-up early and exit mindfully, without continuing conversations outside. No smoking of any kind or pets onsite.
Sign up via the registration link on this page, or if you prefer, RSVP via our MeetUp site, East Bay Cohousing:
