The housing crisis continues, and we continue to be priced out. The median rent for a one-bedroom apartment in San Francisco is $3,490 per month. The median home value is more than $1,100,000, far more than the average family can afford. Meanwhile, evictions have continued to rise each year since 2010. Between March 2015 and February 2016, there were a whopping 2,134 evictions.
It's clear that we urgently need real solutions to preserve the housing we have and make sure it's affordable, and to build new affordable housing.
Recent presidential elections show these solutions likely won't come from Washington. And we won't get them from City Hall or Sacramento unless we fight for them.
Come out to this town hall to discuss solutions to the housing crisis, demand a statewide Tenant Bill of Rights, and start to get ourselves organized to hold our elected officials accountable in 2017.
Not a cohousing-specific event, but a place to go and share solutions.
