Housing Co-ops Contribute to the Larger Community!
Because housing co-ops provide affordable housing, low and moderate income individuals and families are able to stabilize their lives and settle in their communities. Having secure, affordable housing allows many co-op members to contribute their time and talents to their neighborhoods and to the broader community. Berkeley Student Co-op encourages its members to volunteer in the community, and gives members work credit for time donated to community service. * Hear about BSC's innovative program of students helping elders with gardening, home repairs, chores, and tech support, so they can age in place and stay in their homes. * Hear from other co-ops about how their members are making a difference by volunteering in community service and activism * Share your own stories on how your co-op and its members are making the world a better place! Come to learn, discuss, share skills, socialize & munch! Please bring a snack or beverage to share.
This quarterly gathering, for people already living in cohousing, co-ops, and group houses, will take place at an area community (not a cohousing neighborhood) - RSVP here and you'll get sent the address.
It is being put on by the East Bay Cooperative Housing Coalition, which includes EBCOHO and the Bay Area Community Land Trust (BACLT).
