A new group was forming (its first meeting was in February, 2010; it seems to have faded by May, 2010; please let us know if you hear it is becoming active again) to pursue the vision of acquiring an existing occupied apartment building and creating community within it, gradually. We'll post notices on our events calendar as we hear of upcoming meetings of this group. Contact us for more information.
Here's what the group posted on Craig's List for its first meeting:
Come and join us for a casual get together to discuss the concept of Co-Housing for active seniors in San Francisco. [...]
Many of us have raised our families and are living in homes that are too big and too much work. Some of us may feel isolated and lonely. Our desire is to purchase a multi unit building together and create a micro community that would be a supportive, social environment. The location would be urban so that, as we age, the option of walking and public transportation would be availabale. For more info. call Linda at 415 492-8180
