The Village Heart is Everywhere: Mark Lakeman of City Repair

Mark Lakeman of City Repair at PLACEPLACE Power - The Village Heart Is Everywhere
A Presentation by Mark Lakeman (City Repair Portand and Village Building Convergence)

TIME: 7:00-9:30pm
COST: $10-20 Sliding Scale

Though the inexorable cultural action project of humanity may have been thrown off course in the last several centuries, the true village of our hearts remains alive, expressed every day through our actions and choices.

Come tonight, to hear west coast stories of creative courage and determination, where hearts burst with love-rage, laws are challenged and remade, when children and politicians become leaders at last, stories that will leave you proud to be a person. Come tonight, to share stories as we renew our commitment to the common cause of resilient human community. The village heart is not gone, it is everywhere.

MARK LAKEMAN is a co-founder of the City Repair Project in Portland, Oregon and served as the Co-Director of Creative Vision from 1995 to 2008. He is presently active as a project coordinator in the annual Village Building Convergence. Mark is also the founder and principal of Communitecture, Inc, a cutting edge design firm with sustainable building and planning projects at many scales. These highly popular projects include such social and ecological innovations as The ReBuilding Center, numerous ecovillage projects and infill co-housing examples, and many projects involving low income and homeless people in the development of sustainable community solutions.
