Even groups with great meeting process inadvertently perpetuate barriers to full member participation and access to democratic process. This happens through group dynamics of power, privilege, and oppression that often marginalize women, people of color, queer, trans, and gender non-conforming folks, people with disabilities, and those with limited access to the cultural cues that come with class privilege. This weekend training for facilitators will center integrating an analysis of systemic power throughout our facilitation work.

We will move beyond basic skills to explore how to address systemic power as it arises in groups, how our identities impact our facilitation style and approach, as well as how we can build our skills to be more effective facilitators. Topics included will be: group decision making; supporting groups in conflict; naming, intervening, and addressing systemic power as it arises; working with multiracial, multicultural groups.

This training is applicable both for people who facilitate within groups they are part of, as well as those who come in as outside facilitators for groups.

I will be paying $____ for the workshop. *
The suggested fee for this workshop is $300, $100-$400 sliding scale. If you are part of a well-funded organization or have access to money/wealth, we ask that you pay at the higher end of the sliding scale. This allows low income and working class participants, as well as participants from lower resourced organizations to attend and pay at the bottom of the sliding scale. Please pay via paypal at: evanredwing@sonic.net. If you are unable to pay via paypal, please email talktoevan@sonic.net to make other arrangements. Registration fees are fully refundable until July 1st. After July 1st, we will retain $100 until we are able to fill your vacated spot.

** Scent.** This space has been undergoing renovation, so there may be lingering paint scents in the air. We are looking for air filters to run in the space. If you have one and are able to donate it to be used for the weekend, please let us know! **Food.**We are planning on providing tea, water, and maybe some light snacks in the mornings of all day-long workshops. Please plan on providing your own lunch. **The Space.** The ballroom in the Omni commons is wheelchair accessible. There is one ADA complaint, all gender, single stall bathroom. The lighting in the space will be primarily lit with natural light from above through sky lights. **Interpretation.** We are sorry, we will not be providing interpretation for this event.
Accessibility: Come scent free *
Please join us in ensuring accessibility for community members with chemical sensitivity and chronic illness by not wearing fragrances or scents on your body or clothes from perfumes, scented laundry detergent, hair and body products, and essential oils. You can prepare in advance by not using products with fragrance or scents, and by using fragrance free, non-toxic products. If this is new for you, here are a couple resources on how to be scent reduced and scent free: http://www.peggymunson.com/mcs/fragrancefree.html and http://www.brownstargirl.org/blog/fragrance-free-femme-of-colour-realness-draft-15
It is helpful to know who will be in the room as we plan the weekend. Please, if you are willing, share with us how you identify in terms of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, class background, dis/ability, and/or anything else that feels important to you or you believe will help us plan for you.
It is our intention to create a dynamic, multiracial space and ensure access for people of color. To that end, until July 1st we will be holding 18 of the available 35 spots for people of color. Answering this question will help us to do this.
